Erdőbénye sits in the heart of the Tokaj-Hegyalja wine region, the oldest classified wine region in the world (1737). Several cellars in the village offer tastings, including the Béres Vineyards & Estate, one of the larger modern producers, with cellars cut into the volcanic tufa of the surrounding hills.
Tastings cover the full Tokaj range — dry Furmint and Hárslevelű as well as the famous sweet aszú wines made from botrytised grapes. The wines pair surprisingly well with savoury food; the cellars often serve simple platters of Hungarian sausage, cheese, and bread alongside the tasting.
