The Bálint Balassa Museum is Esztergom's local and regional history museum, housed in a Baroque building in Víziváros on medieval foundations. After Ottoman rule ended, the building served as the first town hall of Esztergom county, which gives the museum a fitting home for telling the city's longer civic story.
Collections cover archaeology, local history, and regional culture, with related branches including the Babits Memorial House and folk-history sites outside town. It is a quieter counterpoint to Esztergom Basilica and the Christian Museum nearby.
