Švejk Restaurant

Named after the Czech literary antihero, Švejk leans into the Central European theme with Czech and Hungarian food side by side — svíčková (beef in cream sauce) alongside pörkölt (beef stew), and dark Kozel on tap alongside Dreher. The interior is covered in illustrations from Jaroslav Hašek's novel, which makes it cheerful if a little cluttered.

It's a reliable choice for a filling lunch near the old town: generous portions, fair prices, and no pretensions. The goulash soup is a good starter on a cold day. Service can be slow when it fills up, but no one seems in a hurry here.
