Leskowsky Musical Instrument Collection

The Leskowsky Collection holds over 2,000 musical instruments from around the world — Tibetan singing bowls, West African djembes, Aboriginal didgeridoos, Renaissance recorders, Hungarian zithers, an Indian sitar that belonged to a touring student of Ravi Shankar. It was assembled over fifty years by Albert Leskowsky, a Kecskemét music teacher, and is now run as a small museum by his family.

The remarkable thing is that the guided tour involves Leskowsky's heirs actually playing the instruments — not all of them, but enough to make the experience an unexpected concert as well as an exhibition. Visits are by appointment only, ring ahead. The collection sits on a residential street about ten minutes' walk from the centre.
