Kecskemét has a small but solid restaurant scene focused on hearty Hungarian cooking — goulash, pörkölt, paprikás chicken, fisherman's soup from the Tisza river. A handful of newer wine bars and a respectable small craft brewery have appeared in the last decade. The city is also a good place to try Kecskemét apricot pálinka without leaving town.
