Tihany's lavender fields are now part of the peninsula's identity, especially in early summer when the slopes turn purple and every second shop seems to sell lavender syrup, soap, or sachets. It can be commercial, but the fields themselves are still lovely in the right light.
The best time is usually June into early July, depending on the season. Outside bloom time, the lavender theme lingers in the village shops, but the landscape loses much of the reason to make a special detour.
