The thermal baths operate year-round, which makes Zalakaros viable in any season. Spring and autumn are pleasant for the outdoor pools and the surrounding countryside. Summer brings more crowds and higher prices, especially in July and August when the outdoor adventure section is in full operation. Winter visits can be surprisingly enjoyable — the contrast between the cold air and the warm thermal pools has its own appeal, and the resort is quiet.
The Kis-Balaton wetlands are at their best for birds in April–May and August–September, when migrating species pass through in large numbers.
