Fiskidagurinn Mikli takes place on the second Saturday of August each year in Dalvík. The town's fishing boats bring in their catch, and it's all cooked on the harbour and given away free — fish soup, grilled fish, fish in every form the townspeople can prepare. Music, boat tours, and general festivity follow.
The event is genuinely good-natured and reflects Dalvík's identity as a working fishing port that takes pride in what it does. If your visit coincides with the second Saturday in August, don't miss it.
