Ægissíðufoss is a modest but handsome waterfall on the Ytri-Rangá, a short drive or long walk south of Hella. It is not one of Iceland's thunderous postcard falls; the appeal is quieter, with the river spreading over rock ledges in open farmland.
Go when you want a break from the Ring Road crowds. The falls pair naturally with the Caves of Hella and a riverside walk back toward town.
