The Rangá river gives Hella its best everyday scenery. Paths and quiet streets near the water make an easy stroll, with grassy banks, birdlife, and on clear days a view inland toward Hekla and the highlands.
The Ytri-Rangá is also one of Iceland's known salmon rivers. Fishing access is managed and expensive, but even non-anglers will understand why the river matters to the village.
