Slippbarinn opened in 2012 in the lobby of the Reykjavik Marina Hotel and is often credited with starting Iceland's serious cocktail scene. The drinks are inventive without being silly; the bartenders work with foraged Icelandic ingredients — birch, angelica, juniper, dulse — alongside the usual spirits.
The view from the floor-to-ceiling windows is onto the old slipway and dry dock of the working harbour, with fishing boats hauled up for repair. Live music several nights a week.
