Steel dream-boat sculpture on Reykjavik's seafront

Address Sæbraut, by the harbour
Admission Free

A polished steel sculpture by Jón Gunnar Árnason on the seafront, looking like a Viking longship rendered as a skeleton. Despite the obvious association the artist insisted it is a dream-boat sailing toward the sun, not a Viking reference. It sits on the coastal path between Harpa and the Hallgrímskirkja-side of town, framed against the sea and Mount Esja, and is a popular stop for sunset photographs.

A pleasant fifteen-minute walk along the bay from Harpa.
