Stykkishólmur is a small town but it punches above its size culturally. The Library of Water and the Norwegian House museum are both worth your time. The harbour and the surrounding bay — scattered with around 2,700 small islands — are the town's defining landscape. The main reason most visitors come, though, is as a base for exploring the Snæfellsnes peninsula.
