The Church of Ireland parish church in Ardee has medieval origins, built on a site that has been used for Christian worship since at least the early Norman period. The current structure incorporates stonework from several different centuries, giving it the layered appearance typical of Irish churches that were continuously adapted rather than demolished and rebuilt. The churchyard contains some interesting grave markers, including a number of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century stones with legible inscriptions.
