King House gives Boyle its other strong town-centre anchor. Built for the King family in the eighteenth century, it later served as a military barracks before being restored as a visitor centre.
The interest is not just the rooms, though the scale of the house is impressive for a small town. The exhibitions connect the building to landlord power, the Connaught Rangers, Irish military history, and local cultural collections, so it works even if you have already seen plenty of Georgian houses elsewhere in Ireland.
