Castletownbere is about 50 km west of Bantry by road. The usual route follows the N71 to Glengarriff and then the R572 along the south side of the Beara Peninsula.
Bus services are useful but limited. Bus Eireann routes connect Cork, Bantry, Glengarriff and Castletownbere on selected services, and local buses link the town with smaller Beara villages. Check the current timetable before depending on a same-day connection.
