Dromineer is the main sailing centre on Lough Derg, home to Lough Derg Yacht Club and the most active sailing programme on the lake. The harbour sits on the Tipperary shore and can be reached by road from Nenagh. There are ruins of a Norman castle on the headland above the village, and a small beach suitable for swimming on calm days.
The village has a well-regarded pub, Paddy's Bar, which serves food and has outdoor seating with views across the water. In summer, races and regattas are a regular feature — if you arrive on the right weekend, the bay fills with white sails.
