Lough Derg rewards those who slow down. The classic visit combines a boat trip to Inis Cealtra with a circuit of the lakeshore by bike or car, stopping at the harbours and villages along the way. The Lough Derg Way is a 114-kilometre waymarked trail that circles the lake — you can walk or cycle sections of it without doing the full circuit. Sailors and cruisers have access to the entire Shannon Navigation system from the lake's marinas.
