Drombeg Stone Circle is one of the strongest prehistoric sites within easy reach of Clonakilty. The circle has 17 closely spaced stones and is aligned toward the winter solstice sunset, a reminder that the west Cork landscape was being read carefully long before towns and roads arrived.
It sits about 10 kilometres west of Clonakilty, close enough to combine with Rosscarbery, Glandore, or a slow coastal drive. Go early or late if you want the place to feel quiet.
