Michael Collins House is Clonakilty's main indoor sight and the best place to put the town's revolutionary associations in order. Collins was born nearby, spent school years in Clonakilty, and became one of the central figures in the War of Independence, the treaty negotiations, and the Civil War that followed.
The museum keeps the story local without shrinking it. It is especially useful before visiting Woodfield, Collins's birthplace, or the wider ambush sites and memorials scattered through west Cork.
