The easiest way to reach Dalkey is the DART, the suburban rail line that runs along the coast from Dublin's Pearse, Tara Street, and Connolly stations. Trains run every ten to twenty minutes and the journey takes about half an hour from the centre.
By car the village is reached via the N11 south then the R119 to Dalkey, but parking in the centre is limited and metered. Buses 7 and 7a run from O'Connell Street in central Dublin to Dalkey, slower than the train but a single fare.
