The Queens has been on Castle Street since 1745 and claims to be one of the longest continuously trading pubs in Ireland. The front bar is small, low-ceilinged, and properly old; a series of newer rooms and a sheltered garden have been added at the back without spoiling the original.
The pints are well kept and the food is better than it needs to be — the seafood chowder is famous locally. On a wet afternoon, an hour at the front bar with a Guinness and a paper is one of the best things you can do in the village.
