Glendalough rewards a full day rather than a quick stop. The monastic ruins take an hour to explore properly; the walks to the upper lake and up into the Wicklow Mountains take as long as you want to give them. Come early — the car park fills by mid-morning on weekends and in summer, and the site feels entirely different without the tour bus crowds.
