Castlekeeran

Riverside monastic graveyard with early high crosses and an Ogham stone.

Castlekeeran is a quiet monastic site west of Kells, set around a walled graveyard by the river. Three high crosses stand here, with a fourth nearby, marking the sacred boundary of the old monastery.

The setting is part of the draw. The crosses are plainer than the ones in town, but the riverside church ruins, Ogham stone, and St Ciaran's Well make it a worthwhile extension if you have a car or bike.
