Cromwell's Bridge

Medieval stone arch bridge built by Franciscan monks

Despite the name, Cromwell never came near the place. This small arch-shaped stone bridge was built by Franciscan monks from a nearby monastery to reach a spring on the far side -- Our Lady's Well, which remains a centre of local devotion every 15 August, the Feast of the Assumption.

The bridge is north of Kenmare, off the Killarney road past the creamery.
