Kildare town is well connected by rail. The Dublin Heuston to Cork and Limerick main line stops at Kildare station, with frequent services taking about 40 minutes from Dublin. Newbridge, a few kilometres east, also has a station on the same line.
By road, the M7 motorway runs along the northern edge of the county and connects Dublin to Kildare in under an hour outside of rush hour. Bus Éireann and Dublin Coach run services from Dublin to Newbridge and Kildare town.
