St Fiachra's Garden

Created in 1999 to mark the new millennium, St Fiachra's Garden at the Irish National Stud honours the patron saint of gardeners with a landscape of lakes, islands, and woodland. At its heart is a Waterford Crystal grotto set into a natural rock face — an unexpected flourish of craftsmanship amid the bog and stone. The garden is named for the seventh-century Irish monk who reputedly introduced horticulture to France, where his name lives on in the Parisian fiacre cab.

Combined with the Japanese Gardens next door, this makes a half-day well spent.
