Getting There

Kilrush is about 70 kilometres west of Limerick, via the N68 road. The drive takes just over an hour. There is no direct train service; the nearest rail connection is Limerick, from which you need a car or bus. Bus Éireann operates a limited service from Ennis and Limerick to Kilrush, but frequency is low — check current timetables before relying on it.

Driving is by far the most practical way to reach Kilrush, especially if you want to explore Loop Head Peninsula. A car gives you the flexibility to stop at the sea stacks, walk the cliff paths, and time the ferry to Scattery Island at your convenience.
