Bon Appétit on James Terrace is Malahide's most serious restaurant, a fine dining room with a French-influenced menu that draws from Irish produce — west coast seafood, dry-aged Irish beef, seasonal vegetables from small suppliers. The cooking is technically accomplished without being showy, and the room is comfortable rather than formal.
It is one of the better restaurants in the north Dublin area, worth the trip from the city for a special occasion dinner. Reservations are advisable, particularly at weekends. The tasting menu is the best value way to sample the cooking; the à la carte is more flexible but pricier per dish.
