Mullingar is well connected to Dublin by both rail and road. The Dublin–Sligo rail line stops here, with several trains daily from Connolly and Heuston stations; the journey takes about an hour. By road, Mullingar is on the N4 dual carriageway, 80 km from Dublin — around an hour's drive in normal traffic. Bus Éireann runs frequent services from Dublin's Busáras. There is no commercial airport nearby; Dublin Airport is the closest, about 90 minutes away by bus or car.
