Tullamore is on the main Dublin–Galway rail line, with regular Intercity services from Heuston Station in Dublin taking about 1 hour 15 minutes. There are also direct trains from Galway, Westport, and Ballina. Bus Éireann serves the town from Dublin, Athlone, and other Midland towns. By car, Tullamore is on the N80 and N52, close to the M6 motorway — about 100 kilometres west of Dublin.
