Durrow Abbey

Durrow Abbey is an early religious site north of Tullamore, set among old oak woods. The medieval abbey is gone, but the site preserves grave slabs, a high cross, St Colmcille's Well, and a later church.

It is associated with the Book of Durrow, the 7th-century illuminated manuscript now kept at Trinity College Dublin. Parts of the site may be closed for safety, but the grounds make a worthwhile short historical stop.
