Bars and Cafes

Westport has a good concentration of pubs for its size, and several of them have live traditional music sessions in the evenings. Matt Molloy's on Bridge Street is the most famous — it's owned by the Chieftains flute player of the same name and is reliable for trad sessions, though it fills quickly with tourists in summer. For a slightly calmer atmosphere, The Towers on the Quay road is popular with locals. An Bealach near the Octagon is quieter and more traditional in character.

Coffee culture has arrived in Westport in recent years. A handful of good independent cafes operate in the town centre; the ones along James Street and near the Octagon generally do breakfast and lunch well.
