Clew Bay Heritage Centre

The Clew Bay Heritage Centre is a small local museum that covers the history of the area from prehistoric times through to the 20th century. The collection includes material on Grace O'Malley (Granuaile), the 16th-century seafaring chieftain who controlled Clew Bay, on the Famine period, and on the local pilgrimage tradition associated with Croagh Patrick.

The centre is modest in scale but a useful introduction to the area's history before setting out to explore the landscape. It is located in a converted building near the quay at Westport Harbour (The Quay), about 1.5 kilometres from the town centre.
