October and early November are the distinctive season because of the Wexford Festival Opera. The town is livelier, more expensive, and much harder to book, but it is also at its most memorable. Summer is better for beaches and coastal touring; winter is quiet and best treated as a low-key stop between Dublin, Waterford, and Rosslare.
