Beach and Pine Forest

Pineto's defining feature is the strip of umbrella pine forest that backs the entire beach — planted in the 1920s at the initiative of Luigi Filiani, who envisioned a resort town shaded by thousands of pines. The beach itself holds a Blue Flag designation for water quality, and the sand is clean and wide. The combination of pine-scented shade and clear Adriatic water is genuinely pleasant, which is why Italian families have been coming here for generations.

The Parco Filiani, created between the wars and restored in 2010, extends inland from the beach through the pine woods, with walking and cycling paths, benches, and picnic areas. In summer it functions as a long, shaded promenade. The beach is divided into stabilimenti (private beach clubs with sunbeds and parasols) and free public sections; the public stretches are less crowded and perfectly good.
