Cosenza is connected by the A2 motorway (Autostrada del Mediterraneo) running north-south through Calabria, making it easily reachable by car from Naples (around 3 hours) or from Reggio Calabria (1.5 hours).
By train, Cosenza is served by regional trains connecting to Paola station on the main Salerno–Reggio Calabria line. From Paola, some trains continue through a mountain pass to Cosenza, while others require a change. The journey from Naples takes around 3–4 hours.
Lamezia Terme International Airport (SUF), about 70 kilometres southwest, is the nearest major airport with connections to several Italian and European cities. Car rental at the airport is the most practical option for exploring Cosenza and the surrounding region.
