Benevento is about 55 km northeast of Naples by road (A16 motorway, exit at Benevento). By train from Naples Centrale, the journey takes about an hour on regional services; trains run several times per day. By car from Rome, take the A1 south to the A16 interchange at Caserta. The railway station is at the foot of the old town, about a 15-minute walk from the Arch of Trajan.
