Collezione di Anatomia Patologica e Teratologia Veterinaria

Unusual University of Bologna collection of veterinary pathology, anatomy, and malformed animal specimens

This is one of Bologna's strangest university museums, and very much not for everyone. The Collezione di Anatomia Patologica e Teratologia Veterinaria belongs to the University of Bologna's museum system and grew from 19th-century teaching collections of veterinary pathology, comparative anatomy, and teratology.

The appeal is the old academic intensity of the place: preserved specimens, skeletons, pathological preparations, and anatomical teaching material that show how veterinary medicine tried to classify disease and deformity before modern imaging. It sits outside the historic centre in Ozzano dell'Emilia, so it is best for travellers with a real interest in medical history, natural science, or the odder edges of university Bologna.
