The Museo Internazionale e Biblioteca della Musica fills the Palazzo Sanguinetti, a noble palazzo whose painted rooms — frescoed in the early nineteenth century by artists including Pelagio Palagi — are part of the attraction. The display ranges from early printed scores and original manuscripts of Rossini to one of the most important collections of historic instruments in Italy.
Bologna's musical history runs deep — the city is a UNESCO Creative City of Music — and the museum lays it out clearly across some thirty rooms. The library upstairs is open for research and worth glancing in for the painted ceiling.
