By boat is the most enjoyable option. Navigarda operates ferries connecting all the main towns, with faster hydrofoils on some routes. A day pass allows unlimited on-and-off travel. The car ferry between Maderno (west) and Torri del Benaco (east) saves the long drive around the lake, though queues can be long in summer.
By car, the roads around the lake are scenic but often slow. The western Gardesana road, carved through cliffs, is spectacular but narrow and frequently in single-lane tunnel sections. The southern shore road around the base of the lake is dual carriageway and fast but undramatic.
By bus, Arriva operates services connecting the major towns, though frequency is limited on rural routes.
By bicycle, the lake is manageable but hilly on the west and north shores. The southern lakeshore has a longer flat cycling path. E-bikes are widely available to rent throughout the lake towns.
