Fiuggi Città is the medieval part of the town, perched on the hilltop about a kilometre above and apart from the spa resort below. The contrast is striking: you leave the broad belle époque promenades of Fiuggi Terme and arrive in tight cobbled lanes, stone archways, and a small cathedral square that feels essentially unchanged for centuries. The Cathedral of San Pietro Apostolo is modest but dignified, and the lanes leading off the central piazza reward a slow wander.
The views from the upper reaches of Fiuggi Città are the best in the area — on a clear day you can see across the Lazio hills to Frosinone and beyond. There are a handful of small restaurants and bars here that cater more to residents than to spa tourists, and the food is often better for it. Walking up from Fiuggi Terme takes about twenty minutes along a well-signposted path through the woods.
