Ponte di San Francesco

The Ponte di San Francesco is a medieval single-arch bridge over the Aniene River, built in the fourteenth century and named after the church of San Francesco that once stood nearby. It is one of the best-preserved medieval bridges in Lazio and makes for a pleasant short walk from the town centre. The gorge below offers a good vantage point on the rocky terrain that defined Subiaco's character — its inaccessibility was exactly what drew hermits to the valley in the first place.
