Alassio's pleasures are primarily the beach and the town itself. The 4-kilometre sandy beach is the longest on the western Ligurian Riviera, and the Budello — the narrow pedestrian lane running behind the seafront — is the social centre for the long summer evenings. But there are sights worth tracking down: a celebrity wall, a medieval church, an island nature reserve visible from the shore, and some of the best gelato on the Riviera.
