Church of Nostra Signora Assunta

The village's main church stands at the centre of Arnasco and contains two pieces of art worth pausing for. The Gaggini marble tabernacle dates to 1536 and shows the refined stonework that made this Genoese family the most sought-after sculptors in Liguria during the 16th century. Alongside it hangs a 17th-century painting of the Baptism.

The church itself is straightforward Ligurian Baroque — pale facade, restrained interior — but the quality of the furnishings signals that Arnasco was once a prosperous enough agricultural community to commission serious work from major workshops.

A story
The parish church of Arnasco holds a marble tabernacle carved by the Gaggini workshop in 1536 — the same Genoese family of sculptors whose work appears across Ligurian churches of the Renaissance period. A 17th-century baptism painting completes the interior; neither piece looks like it belongs in a village of 600 people, which is rather the point.
