Spiaggia di Bergeggi

The main beach is a narrow strip of coarse sand and shingle tucked between the railway embankment and the sea, facing directly onto the island. It is small by Riviera standards, which keeps it from becoming overwhelmed in July and August even when the larger beaches at Spotorno and Pietra Ligure are packed.

The water is calm, clear, and relatively unpolluted thanks to the adjacent marine reserve. The view across to the island and its tower is attractive. Part of the beach is managed with deckchairs and umbrellas for hire; a free section remains at one end. In the morning the light catches the island from the east and the whole scene is unusually picturesque for a stretch of coast that has a motorway and a railway running behind it.
