Things to Do

Bergeggi punches above its weight for such a small comune. The offshore island and its surrounding marine reserve are the main draw — divers come from across Liguria for the clarity of the water and the density of life on the rocky seabed. On land, the ruined tower on the island and the medieval lookout at Torre del Mare are reminders of the coast's turbulent history. The Grotta di Bergeggi, a sea cave beneath the cliffs, was home to Neolithic and Roman inhabitants and is still accessible on calmer days.
