Capo Olmo Coastal Path

A signed footpath leaves the eastern end of Celle Ligure's promenade and climbs through Aleppo pine and Mediterranean scrub onto Capo Olmo, then descends to Albisola Marina. The full walk is about 5 kilometres each way and takes around 90 minutes one-way at an easy pace. Several side trails branch off to viewpoints and small rocky coves that are popular with swimmers willing to scramble down.

The path is exposed in places and offers little shade — best walked early morning or late afternoon in summer. Spring brings broom and rosemary in flower and turns the cape briefly green. Sturdy shoes are sensible; the rock can be slippery after rain. There are no facilities along the way, so carry water.

A story
The path follows the line of an old mule track that once linked the fishing villages along the coast before the Via Aurelia was widened for cars. From the top of the cape you can see all the way back to Genoa on a clear day, with the open Ligurian Sea on one side and the Apennine foothills rising behind.
