Finale Ligure is one of Europe's premier mountain biking destinations, and the network above town is the main reason serious riders from across the continent make the trip. Hundreds of kilometres of singletrack thread through the limestone karst, Mediterranean scrub, and maritime pine forest on the slopes above the town, dropping from ridge-top trails back toward the sea. The terrain suits advanced riders — the rock is grippy, the singletrack is technical, and the descents are long and varied — but there are trails for intermediate riders too.
The town hosts a round of the Enduro World Series in autumn, which brings the sport's top professionals to race on the same trails that visitors ride year-round. Bike hire is available from several shops near the seafront; shuttle services run to the upper trailheads. The riding season is long — spring and autumn are ideal, summer rideable in the morning before the heat builds.
