The limestone cliffs above Finale Ligure offer some of the best sport climbing in Italy, with several hundred routes on crags at every exposure and in every grade from beginner to elite. The rock is compact and featured limestone that provides excellent friction and a variety of movement styles — slabs, tufas, pocket-pulling, and some exceptional cave routes.
The Bric Pianarella and Rocca di Corno sectors are the most popular, within easy walking distance of town, while the Muzzerone headland above Finalpia offers a dramatic setting with routes above the sea. Spring and autumn are the main climbing seasons; the lower crags are climbable year-round on mild days. A number of guiding companies in town offer instruction and can direct newcomers to appropriate sectors.
